Discover Ketchikan

A local booking agency with local knowledge to help you have the best port call of your cruise.

Taking your port call to a whole new level!

Let’s see… did you come to Alaska to buy jewelry? Or how about to walk through a dozen stores all selling the same curios? No? That’s great to hear, because that’s not what we’re doing at all! We’re going to be traveling outside of the thrills of the cruise ship piers, and we’re headed into the Tongass National Rainforest. Immaculate views that await you include towering cedars, cascading waterfalls, active salmon spawning grounds, and even the chance to see the most anticipated wildlife views of the Alaskan experience, such as bears, eagles, seals, and whales.

Check out this gallery of photos from our tour! The collection is updated monthly when we’re in season (May-September).

Rainforest Tour FAQ

How many people are going to be on the tour?

We’ll go on tour with anywhere from 1 to 14 passengers in our vehicle. Typical tour size is going to be between 8 and 10 people, but every season is different, so that average could be different during the coming season.

Is the weather a concern? What should I wear or bring?

The Rainforest Tour operates rain or shine, and sometimes the rain is a more authentic experience. Temperatures typically range from 40-70 degrees Fahrenheit during our tour season. As far as dress code and supplies, you’ll want to wear comfortable, waterproof clothing and shoes. You might enjoy having binoculars or a camera separate from your phone if you’re planning on seeing everything you possibly can.

What kinds of animals will we see?

Though we can’t guarantee any specific wildlife, we can tell you that black bears, 5 different species of salmon, bald eagles, humpback whales, orcas, Sitka blacktail deer, seals, and sea lions are the most common sightings on our tour. Different weather patterns can expose you to different wildlife, so come prepared for anything, and we’ll show you everything that’s available that day.

Will we be back in time for our ship?

Short answer, yes!
Our team monitors cruise ship schedules, docking positions,
and actual locations regularly throughout the day, even during
and after your tour, so our guests can be informed of any
changes to their port call and any changes to our schedule to
accommodate the ships’ schedules. In the event that the tour
time you booked conflicts with your port call because of ship
schedule changes, a full refund will be issued.
