Misty Fjords FAQ

Is weather a concern? What should I wear or bring?

Weather is a top priority for our team. Weather patterns are monitored constantly, and flights are only operated if the weather allows it. The standard for a good tour is much higher than the standard for a safe flight. Tours require comfortable temperatures, high visibility, and a relatively smooth ride. If we cannot provide a quality experience, a full refund will be issued to all guests booked on the excursion.

As far as clothing, we recommend dressing comfortably, and not dressing too warm. Temperatures in the plane and in the Misty Fjords are typically higher than they are on shore in Ketchikan, so heavy jackets and pants are not recommended. You should wear shoes that provide good traction and clothes that allow maneuverability so that you’re able to enjoy the shore stop in the fjords.

Will we see any wildlife?

Wildlife is always a possibility in Southeast Alaska, but is not the focus of this tour. You’re thousands of feet in the air, so any wildlife that you do see will be very, very small.

Are group rates available?

Unfortunately, not. The operating costs of our planes are extremely high because of the permitting require for landings and shore stops in the fjords, something that no other flightseeing company is able to offer this coming season. In order to stay in line with the other companies in the industry, we offer everyone our lowest rate, and that rate is the best option available.

Will we be back in time for our ship?

Short answer, yes!
Our team monitors cruise ship schedules, docking positions,
and actual locations regularly throughout the day, even during
and after your tour, so our guests can be informed of any
changes to their port call and any changes to our schedule to
accommodate the ships’ schedules. In the event that the tour
time you booked conflicts with your port call because of ship
schedule changes, a full refund will be issued.
